Quintas Cleantech is delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for our South Cambridgeshire located 25MW solar farm and 25MW Battery Energy Storage System. Planning permission was granted on 15th July 2026, marking an important milestone for the project and another step forward in our commitment to delivering high-quality renewable energy and energy storage infrastructure.
A proactive and collaborative
planning process
The application was subject to a detailed determination process, during which the team worked proactively with South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) and relevant consultees, providing additional information and refining the proposals where required.
SCDC recognized that the proposal would make a meaningful contribution to low-carbon energy generation, supported by evidence of a connection offer. The project will also deliver significant environmental and ecological benefits, including Biodiversity Net Gain well above the statutory 10% requirement, with net gains of 10.3% in habitat units, 35.9% in hedgerow units and 116.6% in watercourse units.
The planning process also demonstrated our commitment to responsible development. Following further archaeological investigations, the site layout was amended to ensure that archaeologically sensitive areas were avoided, demonstrating a responsive and evidence-led approach to design process.
A positive consultee response
Following extensive engagement and negotiation, the application received no objections from key technical consultees and also received support from the Parish Council.
Overall, SCDC considered the development to be consistent with local and national planning policies. We are proud to have reached this important milestone and would like to thank the local community, landowner, Local Planning Authority, consultees, technical consultants and wider project team for their contribution to the successful determination of the application.
Supporting a cleaner and more secure energy future
The project will make an important contribution to the UK's transition towards a cleaner, more secure and resilient energy system. By combining renewable solar generation with battery storage, the scheme will help increase the supply of home-grown clean electricity while providing energy storage and flexibility to support the wider electricity network, supporting the UK's ambitions for Clean Power by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050.
We look forward to progressing the project and contributing to a cleaner, more secure and resilient energy future for Cambridgeshire and the UK.
