Welcome to River Mel Solar! This is a proposed solar project near New Road, south of Melbourn, SG8 6DJ. The site is located in Cambridgeshire.
This site will generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 7,575 homes each year. The proposed solar farm will have a capacity of 25MW. In addition, a 25MW battery is proposed which would store excess energy generated during the day by the solar panels. This energy can then be released back on to the Grid when there is higher demand for electricity.
The location was carefully chosen. There are no statutory landscape designations that cover the site and there are no public rights of way within the site, making it a great spot for a solar farm.
Public consultation is now closed. All responses received during the consultation will be analysed as we refine our proposal ahead of submitting a planning application. A Statement of Community Involvement will accompany the planning application, which will set out the methods used to consult, the views expressed and how these have been considered in relation to the project. Once the planning application is submitted, during the determination period, the local planning authority, will also carry out their own consultation.
